What your astrological sign says about you: Namely, that you know too much about Astrology.
When I was first introduced to the concept of Astrology as a kid, I was skeptical. After all, believing that the position of the planets and stars could impact your life in any meaningful way, let alone dictate your daily behavior, seemed...what's the word? Oh, yeah, stupid. But the more I learned about this ancient "science," the more I came to feel that people DID seem to reflect the personality traits predicted by their sign. But how? Finally, I read the book that empirically and scientifically explained how and why Astrology really works.
The book Quirkology: How We Discover the Big Truths in Small Things mentions a study done by Hans Eysenck to determine once and for all, if there was any scientific veracity to astrology.
Ironically, in attempting to disprove this pseudo-science, the researcher succeeded in proving it. Well, sort of.
You see, Eysenck's study showed that, while people who don't know about astrology don't match their signs, people who do know about astrology do.
So, ironically, astrology CAN predict someone's personality traits, but only if they have prior knowledge about astrology. In other words, Astrology is a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Growing up, kids apparently believe any ridiculous thing they are taught—that certainly explains the continued existence of organized religion, too.
