See? I'm not the only one who resents movie theater ads.

Our old buddy Ralph Nader has the same bug up his butt about movies that don't start at the time stated. Forcing ads on captive, paying customers is just one more reason movie theaters need to wise up like ArcLight, or go the way of drive-ins and dodo birds. Until then, give me a hi-def, big-screen LCD with 5.1 surround, my own couch and a few cold beers, any day. No screaming kids, sticky floors or off-center seating. It's the way movies were meant to be seen—in peace.

Ben Stein is dead (to me).

It was bad enough that he supported Bush's black/white view of world politics. And that he supported George W. Bush's handling of Katrina. And that, in hindsight, he finally admitted that the Iraq War was/is a disaster.

When I was first introduced to the concept of Astrology as a kid, I was skeptical. After all, believing that the position of the planets and stars could impact your life in any meaningful way, let alone dictate your daily behavior, seemed...what's the word? Oh, yeah, stupid. But the more I learned about this ancient "science," the more I came to feel that people DID seem to reflect the personality traits predicted by their sign. But how? Finally, I read the book that empirically and scientifically explained how and why Astrology really works.

I recently saw the summer blockbuster, Zeitgeist, The Movie. It's a harrowing thriller about a secret cabal of elite power brokers who allegedly orchestrated the World Wars (while funding both sides of the conflicts to reap obscene profits) in an effort to form a single global government; a New World Order.

World's Worst Tourist competition shocker: America didn't win.

Shocking only to those who have never met anyone from France, the results of a recent competition revealed that the French are the World's Worst Tourists. Yet this "scientific" survey surely begs the question: How did America not sweep this award in a landslide? I mean if there's one area where America clearly still excels, it's in grudgingly visiting foreign countries and treating the people who live there like backwater rubes just because their country isn't exactly like America in every way. Still, this national loss needs some context.

Wow, and I kinda thought my paranoid concerns about America turning into a military/industrial complex (like the Empire in Star Wars) were unfounded. Sadly, I was wrong. According to CNN.com:

The Army is considering a proposal to allow a private developer to build a military-themed park that would include Cobra Gunship rides and bars including a '1st Division Lounge.'

Seriously, how else will The Army be able to breed a new generation of Storm Troopers?
